In November 2004, The NASU Unity Proposal and its accompanying Cover Letter were mailed to the secretary or recording brother of each ecclesia in North America. Copies were included for distribution to ecclesial members. Each ecclesia has been asked to prayerfully consider this opportunity to heal the breach in our Lord’s body, to make a decision following their own ecclesial practices, and to communicate their ecclesial decision and voting results to the NASU committee by February 28, 2005.

Note that in this current Phase 1 of the proposed process, an ecclesial decision does not bind them to proceeding with implementation or to any other course of action. The Phase 1 question is to determine support for the NASU Unity Proposal. Response information will be reported to the communities to help determine the best approach concerning implementation of unity. It is not until Phase 2 (God willing) that ecclesias will be asked to express their support for a definitive course of action.

In November, 2003, printed copies of a new NASU 2003 document with an explanatory Covering Letter 2003 were sent to Christadelphians throughout North America in both Unamended and Amended communities (one copy per household, plus extra copies to the recording brother or secretary of larger ecclesias). This information may also be accessed on this web site by clicking on the underlined links above. Please note that the NASU 2003 document contains the unrevised NASU 2001 statements and final wording for the Fellowship section. Additional material has been included that has been helpful in achieving a clearer understanding between members of the two communities. If you have not received your printed copy by the end of November 2003, please contact your recording brother or secretary. If you are unable to obtain a copy from them, please contact the NASU Steering Committee to request a copy.

We ask that you carefully and prayerfully read the entire contents of the above documents. All of the topics addressed are closely inter-related. If you read only excerpts, you may be concerned that some important concept is not addressed, when in fact it is handled in another paragraph or section. It is impossible to treat these subjects comprehensively in each sentence, paragraph or even section. Hence, we ask that you consider the package as a whole, before drawing conclusions.

For historical completeness, the original NASU 2001 document with its explanatory Covering Letter 2001 remain available on this web site and can be accessed by clicking the preceding underlined links. Printed copies of these were distributed to the North American brotherhood at that time and are no longer available.

The NASU Steering Committee disbanded in 2006, thus any links to email addresses or contact information on this site are no longer active.

It remains the task of Brethren and Ecclesias to carry the work forward toward implementation, if the Lord wills. The NASU document is available for any ecclesias to use in a regional or local unity effort.

We wish to thank the many Brethren and Sisters and Ecclesias that participated in the formulation and review of the NASU document and all those ecclesias that responded to the NASU survey. The prayers and support of many others throughout this effort were important and very much appreciated.
